Modern Emerald & Gold Wedding at the Langham Chicago

Amber and Alec’s modern wedding at the Langham Chicago was stunning and we’ve been waiting literal years to share these images (thanks, COVID). We began working with the couple during the summer of 2019 planning an August 2020 wedding. After multiple postponements and a gorgeous micro wedding in Napa that we planned last fall, we were finally able to see their Chicago wedding come together this May! One of the good things about postponed weddings due to COVID is that we were able to spend more time with some of our wonderful clients like Amber and Alec. It was so bittersweet to finally execute this wedding! A&A and their families were warm, kind and so ready to party. What an absolute pleasure it was to work with them for so long!

FINDING THE PERFECT VENUE AND VENDOR PARTNERS

When we led the venue search with Amber & Alec, the Langham, with its Chicago River and Lake Michigan views, became a clear front runner for them based on its modern and clean aesthetic and its location in the city. The neutral palette in the Ballroom eventually became inspiration for their event design, drawing on the touches of emerald green and marble throughout the space. The space was the perfect size for their 200 guests!

Once the venue was secured, we got to work assembling the perfect team of vendor partners for the couple, including a live band which was very important to them, and The Party Faithful really delivered. A&A knew so clearly what they wanted so pairing them with the perfect vendor team was a breeze!

DEFINING THEIR DESIGN AESTHETIC

Using the stunning space at the Langham as the basis for their design plan, we partnered with Kehoe Designs to create a one-of-a-kind modern design aesthetic using a neutral base palette with touches of emerald green, gold and marble. The emerald tones were even carried into Alec’s custom attire and their gorgeous paper goods. Kehoe brought in marble-top tables that complemented the velvet linens, striking a perfect balance of texture and dimension.

We just love mixing round tables with long feasting tables. It’s incredible how that combination makes a room full of 200 people feel intimate! A&A’s design aesthetic was both classic and unique; both modern and warm. It will certainly go down as one of our most memorable designs!

CREATING A ONE-OF-A-KIND EXPERIENCE

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Amber and Alec chose to postpone their Chicago wedding until May 2022, when it was safer to gather with their guests who had traveled from all corners of the country. They knew they didn’t want to wait to marry each other until then, so in early 2021, we began planning an intimate micro wedding at the Montage Healdsburg outside Napa, California. If you missed those photos, be sure to take a look - it was incredibly beautiful!

A&A decided to skip the full ceremony for their wedding at the Langham and instead start with cocktail hour so they could spend more time with their guests. It was important to them to invite guests to feel like they were a part of their ceremony in Napa even if they weren’t there in person. We had a beautiful wall of photos from their micro wedding at the entrance to cocktails to greet guests as they arrived and A&A read their vows to each other right before dinner was served. All of these custom touches gave their wedding a real one-of-a-kind feeling and we are so here for it.

Working with Amber & Alec on two different wedding experiences was so special and we feel honored to have been entrusted with such an important responsibility.
