New Season, Same Wedding Vibe

Now that you’ve officially postponed your wedding, perhaps you’ve found yourself having to celebrate in a different season than you originally imagined. You’re probably asking yourself; do I have to change my entire wedding vision?! Well the answer is no, with a hint of yes. So, how do you adjust your wedding to a new season while keeping your original vision intact as much as possible? We’re here to offer some advice!

There are a few things to consider when shifting your wedding to a new season. First and foremost, consult with your wedding planner to review the original design plan. Be prepared to be flexible and open-minded to prevent you from becoming overwhelmed or disappointed. When moving to a new season, some components may need to be reconsidered. If you’re moving from summer to winter, that outdoor patio cocktail hour you originally intended on having is no longer going to be a viable option. Therefore, you and your planner will need to create a plan B that is appropriate for the new season.

The two most important elements couples will need to consider are their floral and menu selections. These are the two features that are most dependent on the season. If you have moved from a winter to a summer wedding, that roasted butternut squash soup you planned on serving as a first course might not be the cool refreshing treat your guests are looking for on a hot summer day. Consult with your planner and vendors on what adjustments will need to be made while still keeping your original vision in mind.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the year of COVID weddings it’s that all rules have been thrown out the window, and we’re so here for it! If there’s a certain color palette you absolutely love and want to hold on to, do it. If there is a certain flower you loved that is no longer in season, talk with your florist to find out what other flower can best replace the original to give you that same feel. If you originally planned to get married in the summer and have now moved to the winter, but had your heart set on outdoor summery photos, set up a post-wedding shoot with your photographer for the following summer. Bonus points: Now you get to wear your dress twice!

Having the expertise of a planner in your back pocket will allow you to easily determine which vendors you need to consult with, and on what changes, while still holding to your original vision as best as possible. We like to look at having your wedding in a new season as a new opportunity to make your wedding more uniquely tailored to you!

At the end of the day, everyone involved wants to see you say “I do,” no matter the season!
